Oral Health Assets and Challenges in Developing Countries

Incorporating oral health assessment and intervention in primary health care systems is a challenge in any county. Basic ideas such as prevention of dental disease, early detection of problems and teaching behavior change for health improvement must be culturally competent and in alignment with the country's resources. Systems must be not only created but sustained. A panel will present specific oral health issues and share their expertise. Learning Objectives: Participants will learn about oral health intiatives for assessments and intervention models and understand the components necessary for program success. There will be opportunity for dialogue with the panel to explore the programs presented in more depth and to ask questions about oral health work that participants are involved in.
