| The session will discuss the in general the connection between social and economic inequalities and health inequalities and why public health advocates and practitioners need to be involved in programs and activities to address the social and economic issues. Specific presentations will look at work in (1)Chicago on transportation and immigrant workforce working conditions and how they impact health issues and (2) the California Works for Better Health project of the California Endowment and the Rockefeller Foundation which is identifying specific strategies and activities to improve resident health by addressing employment and job quality in communities with significant levels of poverty and (3) health impact of projects addressing zoning, land use and housing in New York City and other urban areas. | ||||
