Latino Caucus

Submit Abstract

The caucus invites abstracts focused on Latino/Public Health issues related to the theme of the conference: “Putting the Public Back into Public Health.” Abstracts that highlight innovative approaches for bringing Latinos into the Public Health agenda are encouraged. The following topics will receive particular attention:
  • Border health initiatives
  • Collaborations, partnerships and coalitions in Latino health advocacy
  • Community-based health interventions
  • Community-based Participatory Planning, Action and Evaluation
  • Community-based Teaching and Research
  • Immigrant communities
  • Impact of Latino demographics for future public health preparedness
  • Increasing Latino representation in the health professions
  • The impact of Latino communities on the healthy behaviors of recent immigrants
We invite all interested in the Latino community to participate in our program development. We also greatly encourage abstracts from students. Submissions are encouraged for posters, roundtables and oral sessions. Workshops, training, tours and other formats may be considered if necessary. Since there are fewer slots for oral presentations than poster presentations, the chances of having an abstract accepted increase if the author is open to more than one presentation format.

Special instructions

If you are planning a session please submit all abstracts individually and inform the program chair. Due to space constrains in Philadelphia, we may not be able to fulfill your request for a complete session, so please let us know if you are willing to have the abstracts accepted individually.

The abstracts are peer-reviewed and evaluated using the following criteria.

    Importance/Originality
Quality and description of subject matter
    Clarity and interest of presentation
Quality and completeness of supporting data/philosophy
