Public Health Nursing

Submit Abstract

The Section invites abstracts on papers, posters, and sessions that focus on all areas of Public Health Nursing, with particular emphasis on the 2002 APHA theme "Putting the Public Back in Public Health." Abstracts should relate to education, practice, research, and/or policy. Topics of special interest include: public health nursing education, the Section's 5-Year Strategic Plan to “promote optimal health and quality of life of all peoples" (with an emphasis on eliminating racial, ethnic and geographic health disparities), and the impact of the nation's nursing shortage on the public health infrastructure. Ongoing interest areas for all abstracts include the following:

Call for Student Abstracts

Student abstracts for the Student Poster Sessions are also being solicited at this time. Students should address the focal areas and abstract content requirements noted above. In addition, students must include their student status on the abstract form, indicate the level of study in which they are/were engaged when completing the work (e.g. “As a senior baccalaureate nursing student, I…”), and their highest earned degree. All students whose posters are accepted will receive special recognition at a Student Reception at the APHA Annual Meeting. Awards will be given for the winning posters in the categories of Undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctoral student submissions.

For those without online capability, hardcopy of the abstract must be sent to Kathleen Jaskowiak MSN before January 30,2002.
