The section invites poster, paper, and session abstracts that focus on this year's theme in the areas of:
- Abstinence, Safe Sex, and the Quality of Evidence
- Bioterrorism, Other Emergencies, and the Schools
- But, Oh Those First Sixty Years: An Anniversary of the SHES Section
- Current School Health Policy Issues
- Food Sense for Adolescents and Children
- Happiness is Proving Programs Keep Children Healthy
- History of School Health
- International School Health
- Physical Activity That Meets Adolescent and Child Health Needs
- School Health-Related Student Performed Research
- State of the Art School Health Curricula
- Student Research Posters
- Substances Affecting Moods and Behavior of Youth
- Tobacco Settlement Monies and the Schools
Rigorously designed, data-based research dealing with current practice and policy is especially invited. International and student submissions are encouraged. The School Health Education and Services Section encourages abstract submission for non-section members who are interested in the health and well-being of school age youth. Students are encouraged to submit abstracts of work performed as part of their academic performance and there is is a student award that will be presented. Clearly identify a student submission and verify that it was not a part of professional (employed) performance. Also, select for student abstract submissions the sessions that include student research in the titles.
