A national, bilingual, multimedia campaign was launched in late 2001 that seeks to encourage Hispanics to seek more information on clinical trial participation by calling the Cancer Information Service (CIS) 1 8004CANCER hotline. TV included 4 dramatic spots that combined cultural themes and optimism that suggested “without research there is no cure” for cancer. Materials were sent to English and Spanish language media (TV >200 stations, Radio > 150 stations, Print > 200 major daily and local weekly newspapers). Pretesting including mall pretests of the themes and images to be used in the PSAs. The CIS will be compiling call record data in response to the calls they receive. We are evaluating all aspects of this year’s campaign and will present what we have learned as well as what we plan to do for our Y3 campaign. PSA’s will be shown during the presentation.
