Bright Futures was developed to respond to emerging preventive and health promotion needs in Pediatrics. With the increasing necessity to expand pediatric primary care interventions, to involve families thoroughly in the process, and to identify community-based partners in care, these ideas ought to be integrated into pediatric training. Hence, a national collaborative of pediatric educators and residency program directors has developed a formal curriculum to be used in Maternal and Child Health Training programs. The curriculum, based upon the underlying tenets of viewing the child within a family and community, highlights a comprehensive set of "core" concepts- advocacy, communication, education, health, partnership, illness prevention/health promotion, and time management.

This workshop will provide interactive, task-oriented experiences in exploring this newly created Bright Futures-based health promotion curriculum.
