A culturally appropriate intervention was developed with community involvement to prevent diabetes and promote treatment compliance among Northern Plains Indians. The great prevalence of obesity and related behavioral factors will be presented based on this research project. Included will be factors related to physical exercise, diet selection, and nutrition knowledge. The impact of obesity on chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease will be examined. Additionally, gender differences were discovered through the analysis of project data and will be presented.
