The health status of American Indians is below the national average. The health risks and wellness factors associated with these statistics are of concern. A randomized health risk and wellness factor survey was administered to California Indians residing in rural reservation areas throughout the state. Areas of interest include high-risk behaviors (such as seatbelt usage, smoking, safe sex, HIV testing, obesity, and violence) and wellness factors (such as immunizations, nutritional diets, health screenings, physical fitness, and community support). The findings of this comprehensive assessment will be presented with significant findings discussed.
