The Department of Biostatistics at the University of North Carolina was organized in 1949. The presentation includes a brief historical sketch of the development of the Department and it also provides a discussion of our five degree programs that we currently offer-- BSPH, MPH, MS, DrPH, and PhD.

The main focus of the presentation centers on our unique undergraduate program: BSPH in Biostatistics. This program was initiated in 1976. It was the nation's first undergraduate major in Biostatistics.

The communication reviews the origin, objectives, and content of the BSPH program. We also present recruitment strategies and admission requirements, as well as enrollment, academic performance, employment and continued education profiles of our 164 BSPH graduates. We also respond to several questions we are frequently asked about our BSPH program.
