This session is a demonstration and evaluation of the role of theater as an approach to develop strategies and action to resolve workplace health and safety problems. Presenters adapt the important work of Brazilians Paulo Freire and Augusto Boal for use in U.S. occupational health education settings.
The presenters describe the use of forum theater in their work with union and non-union workers. Session participants will create and intervene in their own forum theater stories and will analyze the results. Presenters will lead a discussion about the advantages and limitations of this approach and participants will discuss ways to incorporate these methods into their education programs.
