Mehran Alaee, Atmospheric Contaminant Impacts Division, Environment Canada, 867 Lakeshore Road, Burlington, ON L7R 4A6, Canada, 905-336-4752, kperry@psr.org

Two Canadian federal agencies, Environment Canada and Health Canada, are conducting national studies to determine the levels of PBDEs in the Canadian environment and the risks to public health. With the vast majority of PBDEs of concern produced in the Midwestern region of the U.S., the entire continent is at risk, with special implications for the aquatic ecosystems of the shared Great Lakes region.
