Toxicity of PBDEs: Are they the PCBs of the future?

Toxicological concerns for PBDE exposure include thyroid hormone disruption, neurodevelopmental deficits, and possible links to cancer. This presentation will summarize recent studies of wildlife and laboratory animals, and discuss implications for human health effects. Implications for particularly vulnerable populations, such as developing fetuses and breast-feeding infants, will be emphasized.
