This session will focus on continually changing health care policy as it affects Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders. As a heterogeneous population with significant number of immigrants, limited English proficiency and differing health profile, emerging health policy has a disparate impact. The discussion of issues will include: continuing restoration of health and related assistance to immigrants, implementation of culturally and linguistically appropriate policies and programs, and progress in federal initiatives for reducing and eliminating health disparities.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of the session, the participant will be able to

1.List three current policy interventions to improve AAPI access to health and/or quality of care.
2.Articulate the preferred methods for translation and interpretation services for limited English proficient persons.
3.Identify resources for additional research.
