The SOPHE/AAHE Task Force on Accreditation in Health Education was charged with the task of developing a detailed plan for a coordinated accreditation system for undergraduate and graduate programs in health education. This presentation will provide a status report on the work of the Task Force, including a brief overview of the origin, goals, and activities and key priority issues that have provided context. Findings from Task Force surveys that have now been completed to identify the perceptions of health education professionals and perceptions of chairs of health education academic units regarding accreditation issues will be discussed. In addition, this status report will reveal key principles and several interim recommendations that the Task Force has developed to guide creation of seamless and feasible system of institutional accreditation at the undergraduate and graduate levels that can also be articulated with existing individual certification requirements.
