In October of 2000, The Public Health Association of Nebraska was awarded a Health Care Cash Fund Grant from the Nebraska Health Care Cash Fund for a project called "Social Change Through Public Health Marketing Strategies."

During the first year, a Stakeholders group consisting of consumers and public health professionals from across Nebraska, met several times to determine the focus and priority public health issues that would be developed. Based upon information and input from the Stakeholders group, a plan was developed by Pickering Creative Group. The "branding" resulted in the slogan: "Public health is your health, too!" Fact sheets, press kits, sample print, billboard, and radio ads are now available online.

Also summarized in this presentation will be the use of Master Tobacco Settlement Agreement funding for public health initiatives in Nebraska from planning to advocacy to policy development through state legislative bills which have had a dramatic impact on public health throughout the state.
