Early results from the Cash and Counseling Demonstration and Evaluation are presented. This national study is a policy-driven evaluation of one of the most unfettered forms of consumer direction of personal assistance services. One of the findings suggests the significance of social support networks as a determinant of the type of service mix desired. Other factors are also explored. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services fund Cash and Counseling study.
