Infrastructure Development: Integrating Environmental Health into Health Care Provider Education and Practice
The public is increasingly concerned about environmental health risks. They expect their health care professionals to be prepared to recognize, manage and prevent adverse health effects, caused by environmental factors, in their patients and their communities. However, generally health care providers receive minimal environmental training. This session will highlight the need for improvements in health care providers' environmental health knowledge. Additionally, initiatives, aiming to integrate environmental health throughout various stages of training and clinical practice for health care providers, will be presented.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to: (1) highlight the need for improvements in health care providers' environmental health knowledge; (2) describe initiatives aiming to integrate environmental health throughout various stages of training and clinical practice for health care providers.
