Challenges to Educating Students & Practitioners Via Distance Learning
Distance learning can be defined as any learning that enables students to participate in courses and programs without being in physical proximity to an instructor. Contrary to popular thought, this not a new form of education. However, the issues one faces today in educating students at a distance are evolving just as rapidly as the technology used to deliver the instruction. Issues of accessibility, evaluation and the changing roles of educators will be discussed as world becomes more "wired" everyday.
Learning Objectives: 1) To advance knowledge regarding issues in distance learning. 2) To improve the practice of distance learning in public health. 3) To feature how people and technology can work together to positively impact public health practice.
