In this session, we present three papers that discuss various aspects of fidelity of implementation of effective substance abuse prevention curricula in US middle schools. Two of the papers are based on data from a nationally representative sample of middle school prevention teachers; the third paper focuses on qualitative data collected from 14 schools that participated in the national study. Our first paper concerns factors related to the fidelity with which substance use prevention teachers are adhering to curricula guides. We continue with a presentation of correlates of the use of best practices among teachers who use evidence-based programs. Our final presentation highlights findings from a case study of the adoption and implementation of these prevention curricula, with an emphasis on Project ALERT. | |||
