Philadelphia activists share lessons and direction for the future inspired from a rich early history including the first lying in hospital, Pennsylvania Hospital and first women's medical school formerly, Women's Medical College and now MCP/Hahnemann University. As leaders in a vibrant women's and consumer health movement during the 1960s-90s, our panelists spurred the development of the Childbirth Education Association, Booth Maternity Center, Elizabeth Blackwell Health Center for Women, numerous consumer activist groups and the Maternity Care Coalition. MCC's commitment to blending direct service and advocacy and its National Safe Motherhood award winning MOMobile program and Empowerment Research will be emphasized as currents efforts to mobilize the community for health. | |||
