Learning Objectives: 1. Describe a process for addressing infant mortality and identify key risk factors related to infant mortality 2. Identify clinical and public health approaches to reducing impact of the key risk factors related to infant mortality. 3. Describe the impact of the "Back-to-Sleep" campaign upon the SIDS rate in the United States during the 1990s. 4. Discuss the methods used by pediatric nurse practitioners in implementing SIDS prevention strategies 5. Describe racial and ethnic variation in birth outcomes 6. Discuss the importance of examining and reporting racial and ethnic differences in birth outcomes as we work to eliminate disparities. 7.
