The application of a systems-based approach in environmental health requires collaboration of epidemiology, laboratory science, and environmental health science. This approach may provide a better understanding not only of the direct cause of illness, but also of the factors that precede and contribute to the cause. This session will explore specific examples where systems-based approaches have been used in mold, food and water investigations.
Learning Objectives: 1. Introduce the systems-based approach to the practice of environmental health. 2. Demonstrate how the systems-based approach has been applied. 3. Discuss the benefits and challenges of using the systems-based approach in environmental health.
