Public/Private Partnerships Toward Improving the Public's Health
The protection of the public's health is an increasingly complex endeavor which necessitates the involvement across sectors in order to maximize impact. Public entities have traditionally played the major role in the assurance of the public's health at all levels. In the face of limited resources and ever increasing need, the importance of developing and maintaining public/private partnerships toward the improvement of the public's health has become more understood and prevalent. This special session will bring together leaders on both the national and international level who have understood this need and developed mechanisms which create partnerships and provide health responses in unique and innovative ways. Session participants will both share their experiences and suggest vehicles for such public/private partnerships
Learning Objectives: (1) Session participants will understand the development and implementation of successful public/private partnerships in public health; (2) Session participants will have a working knowledge of at least four successful public/private partnerships and will gain knowledge of the lessons learned from these endeavors; (3) Session participants will be exposed to ideas for future public/private partnerships.
