The 130th Annual Meeting of APHA |

This session discusses how the current Bush Administration, rather than helping unite the country by guaranteeing to everyone in the country the human right of access to health care in time of need, is using a rhetoric of unity without following policies that can address the goal of unity. Other presidents, in times of war, have approved social legislation to increase the social rights of our citizens. Not so the Bush Administration. We either are not at war, or Bush is using the flag to defend specific interest groups that put him in power, without taking actions to truly unite all Americans in time of need.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to identify political issues related to war, peace, public health and the human right to health care.
