Gay and Bisexual Men's Health
The elimination of health disparities is one of the two overarching goals of the nation’s health objectives for the next 10 years. Frequently missing from the discussion, however, and therefore left out of the nationwide attention to eliminating health disparities are sexual and gender minorities, including gay and bisexual men. This session reflects the multifaceted nature of gay and bisexual men’s health, from community research on communicable disease prevention to examining and improving relationships within the gay and bisexual male community. Policy recommendations, research practice, and prevention strategies will be addressed.
Learning Objectives: At the end of this session, participants will be able to: 1)Identify ways to include gay and bisexual men’s community participation in health research and policy formation 2)Describe three factors influencing health outcomes of gay and bisexual men. 3)Assess community level influences on HIV transmission and prevention
