Qualitative Approaches to Health Communication Research
Qualitative research approaches are used to understand the deep, broad-ranging, experiential, intuitive insights and feelings that a target audience has about a particular concept, product, or service. They are being increasingly used in health communication research. The presenters of this session will provide an overview of qualitative research approaches and discuss studies, which illustrate the variety of qualitative tools available to explore health communication questions.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to (1) discuss the different qualitative research approaches, and (2) describe how to use results from qualitative studies in the development of materials and program targeted to specific audiences.
