Call for Abstracts - APHA Annual Meeting 2003 Community Health Planning and Policy Development The section invites abstracts related to the conference theme, "Behavior, Lifestyle and Social Determinants of Health" and to areas of interest to the CHPPD section. Topics include:
- Developing a Community-based Infrastructure for Assessment, Planning, and/or Evaluation
- Innovative Community-based Approaches to Program and Policy Development Aimed at Reducing Disparities in Primary Care and Promoting Healthy Behaviors and Lifestyles, (e.g. immunizations, tobacco, violence, cancer, women's health issues, heart disease, and diabetes)
- Issues Related to Ensuring the Public's Health in An Era of Managed Care and Health Care Restructuring, Including Health Planning, Private/Public Partnerships, Evaluations and Report Cards, Housing, and Policy Development
- Methodological Techniques and Tools Utilized in Health Care Planning, Policy Development and Evaluation (e.g. strategic planning, outcomes research, needs assessments, qualitative methods, use of the Internet and/or telecommunications)
- Needs Assessment, Asset Inventories and/or Policy Development With Disenfranchised Populations (e.g. working poor, elderly, uninsured, homeless, prisoners) and/or Diverse Groups
- Outcome-based Evaluations of Specific Innovative Programs In Planning, Policy, Development or Service Delivery
- Partnerships in Policy Development, Planning and Implementation of Health Care, Social Capital Formation, and Evaluation (e.g. incorporating the community's voice, public/private partnerships, networks, community-academic partnerships)
- Service and Promotion of Health Behviors and Lifestyles for Community Members With HIV/AIDS, TB and Other Infectious Diseases
- Serving Cultural and Linguistic Minorities in the Community While Addressing Behavior, Lifestyle and Social Determinants of Health
