The section invites abstracts in the areas of 'public health nutrition' and 'nutrition and physical activity' related to the 2003 APHA conference theme:"Behavior, Lifestyle and Social Determinants of Health". Abstracts related to the theme will receive high priority for inclusion in the program as well as those related to topics in the following areas:

- Food Insecurity: Relationships to Health
- Food Portion Control and Relationship to Overweight and Obesity, Consumer Attitudes, Policy Options or Education Approaches
- Future Directions in Public Health Nutrition
- Global Nutrition and Health
- Lifestyle Behaviors and Type 2 Diabetes
- Nutrition and Physical Activity Strategies to Prevent Overweight and Obesity
- Nutrition Initiatives: Addressing the Needs of Low Literacy and Immigrant Populations
- Nutritional Health and the Elderly
- Policy and Environmental Approaches to Prevent Overweight and Obesity
- The Role of Nutrition in Schools: School Policies That Affect Food Choices (competitive foods, a'la carte, vending machines, etc.)
