Health Law Forum

Submit Abstract

The Health Law Forum strives to present sessions at the conference that will be informative, thought provoking and relevant not only for HLF members, but for other APHA section members as well. We hope those who have particpated in the past will be part of our program but we are particularly interested in involving new presenters this year. So please consider participating in our sessions by submitting abstracts with a legal or ethical focus related to the topics listed below. IF you have an exciting topic that would be of interest to our members, but it seems beyond the scope of any of the topics we have listed, pick the most nearly relevant topic and submit it under that session, so that we will have the chance to consider it. We look forward to reviewing your proposals and planning an exciting program.

The topics for our sessions are:
  • Defining an Enforceable Right to Health Care
  • Legal and Ethical Aspects of Smallpox Vaccination
  • Litigation to Reduce Risk from Harmful Products
  • Patient Safety, Tort Reform and Public Health
  • State and Federal Surveillance Systems
  • What is Public Health Ethics?
When submitting abstracts PLEASE take the time to be sure you have completed all the fields and have included an abstract AND objectives for your proposed presentation, AND contact information (especially an e-mail address. This will not only assist HLF planners but will facilitate your receipt of timely, updated information on the status of abstract submissions and session planning.
