Socialist Caucus

Submit Abstract

The Socialist Caucus, in keeping with this year's theme "Behavior, Lifestyle, and the Social Determinants of Health," invites sessions and/or individual abstracts on the following topics:
  • "Homeland Security" and the Public's Health
  • Building a Movement for Global Peace, Health and Justice
  • Disparities in Health and Health Care (social determinants, with a major emphasis on class and racism)
  • Food Politics
  • Globalization, Health and Health Care
  • Other Issues of Importance to Progressive Public Health Advocates, Including a Critical Examination of the Concepts of "Behavior" and "Lifestyle" as Elements of the Politics of Victim-blaming
  • The Role of the Big PhRMA
  • Universal Health Care as the Civil Rights Struggle of the 21st Century
The Caucus welcomes submissions from progressive voices who wish to share their vision at the 2003 APHA conference, and would especially like to encourage students and young professionals to submit proposals for oral or poster presentation or roundtable sessions.

When submitting a session proposal (not just a single abstract), please individually submit all abstracts to be included in that session through the web submission process. Then inform the program planner via email that you have organized a complete session (see address below). The email should include the name, address, phone number and email address of the session organizer, the title of the session, a list of the individual abstracts to be included in the session, their presenters, and the web ID of each individual abstract.
