Many people are surprised to learn that in the United States and in many other parts of the world tobacco products are sold in pharmacies. The purpose of the project is to offer practical insights on developing effective strategies and initiating possible legislative action to eliminate tobacco sales in pharmacies. Best practices will be shared.

Learning Objectives:

• Our goal is for participants to: understand the relationships between the tobacco companies and pharmacies; assess the true economics of selling cigarettes in pharmacies; critically examine educational strategies and consumer awareness campaigns; explore the necessary mobilization of Pharmacists to take a proactive leadership role; and assess the pros and cons of legislative action to mandate tobacco-free pharmacies.
