Gem Daus, MA1, Jeffrey Caballero, MPH2, and Sheila Robello, JD2. (1) Policy Division, APIAHF, 1001 Connecticut Ave., NW, Suite 835, Washington, DC 20036, 202-466-7772, gdaus@apiahf.org, (2) Association of Asian Pacific Community Health Organizations, 439 23rd St., Oakland, CA 94612

This session will focus on continually changing health care policy as it affects Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders. As a heterogeneous population with significant number of immigrants, limited English proficiency and differing health profiles, federal and local government health policies tend to have a disparate impact on our populations. The discussion of issues will include: continuing restoration of health and related assistance to immigrants, implementation of culturally and linguistically appropriate policies and programs, expansion of community health centers, and progress in federal initiatives for reducing and eliminating health disparities.
