Using the Head Lice Resource Team of Multnomah County Oregon as a project model, we will address developing a team approach to a community health need. These health needs may range from communicable disease education and prevention to immunization programs to other issues of importance to participants' own community. This workshop provides an overview for participants of the stages of development and growth required to maintain successful community driven partnerships and advocate for quality health policy.

Governance/Participation/Collaboration - Of vital importance is recognizing that diverse community participation is crucial to effective healthcare implementation. Attendees will review strategies to establish a community advisory board that provides continuous input and policy direction.

Goals/Organization - Establishment of goals and values are essential to the Team's growth. An example is the capability of responding to the community's changing needs for resources and referral information and the development of educational materials. Organizational Charts, Value Statements and Planning Strategies provide practical direction to participants.

Financial Strategies - Development of budgets and preparation of grant packages are vital to those community groups willing to help with funding. Other considerations include cultivating relationships with agencies that have a vested interest your health mission.

Daily Operations/Management - Successful management is key to running an effective Project. The daily, weekly or monthly responsibilities of members will streamline healthcare delivery. Obtain documentation and protocol tools and speak with members currently involved in the model

Evaluation - Conducting continuous evaluation of the team improves effectiveness of comprehensive services without costly and timely duplications.
