Jessica Meyer and Yasmin Ahmed. Health Initiatives for Youth, 235 Montgomery St., Suite 430, San Francisco, CA 94104, (415) 274-1970 x30, meyer@hify.org

This interactive session will explore the model Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Initiative of Health Initiatives for Youth (HIFY), from community needs assessment to a panoply of youth development services. HIFY’s Initiative focuses on community building, identity development, anti-oppression training, and access to medical services. Components include by-youth, for-youth zines; health care and social service provider trainings; youth health education workshops; and a community-clinic collaboration. We will present some of our lessons from the road, facilitate small group discussions and exchange best strategies. Our fun, interactive workshops create safe spaces for people to share information and build skills.
