Abstract #66803

Improving Management Decision-making Through Data Warehousing

Robert Blomberg, DrPH, MPH, Director, PPFA Innovations Group, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, 801 Montgomery Street, Fifth Floor, San Francisco, CA 94133 and Edmund Louie, BA, Data Warehouse Project Manager, Innovations Group, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, 801 Montgomery Street, Fifth Floor, San Francisco, CA 94133, 415-956-8856, ted.louie@ppfa.org.

The Innovations Group of the Planned Parenthood Federation (San Francisco Office) has developed a data warehouse program that allows Planned Parenthood affiliate health centers to be compared on a variety of performance indicators. The standard coding to which all services are mapped in the data warehouse is based on Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes and their assigned Relative Value Units (RVUs). In addition to being useful for meeting standard governmental and other funder reporting requirements, the data warehouse can track the outcomes of initiatives and interventions intended to improve performance. Sample reports, comparative data, and use of the data for decision-making will be shown and discussed.
