This session will feature stories from tobacco control policy advocates working on the grassroots level in communities of color. Using participatory action research (PAR) techniques, these advocates are working with researchers to develop strong policy initiatives informed by their own community-based research. Presenters will discuss their innovative policies and community organizing approaches (including work to reduce blunts, the unique issues facing urban Indians, and other tobacco problems with disproportionate impact in communities of color) as well as their collaborations with academia.
