Abstract #69241

Research-tested Intervention Programs (RTIPS): Moving science into programs for people

Laurie Cynkin, MHS, Cynthia Vinson, MPA, and Jon Kerner, PhD. DCCPS, National Cancer Institute, 6130 Executive Boulevard, Rockville, MD 20852, 301-594-5876, cynkinl@mail.nih.gov

The Research-tested Intervention Programs (RTIPS) Web site is a component of the Cancer Control PLANET (Plan, Link, Act, Network with Evidence-based Tools), a Web portal providing a gateway to research/practice partnership tools that inform evidence-based comprehensive cancer control programs. RTIPs provides cancer control planners, program staff, health educators and researchers access to research-tested intervention programs and products spanning the cancer control continuum (from primary prevention to cancer survivorship). Program materials are available on demand through an e-mail order warehouse and through instant computer download. All programs featured on the RTIPs site have been tested through a peer-reviewed research grant with findings published in a peer-reviewed journal. Because it is expected that users of the program materials may need to adapt programs for different audiences and settings, guidelines on choosing and adapting programs have been developed and are provided for users of the Web site.
