Discussion: Overdoses in urban and rural America and their prevention

The discussion will be used to summarize and discuss the research presentations made in the session entitled “The Epidemic of Drug Overdose: Its Determinants and Remedies”. Coming at the conclusion of this session, the discussion will: 1) Consider the patterns of opiate-related overdoses in rural and urban settings; 2) Find common threads which might be used as the bases to identify effective strategies for overdose prevention in these settings; and 3) Suggest future steps in both the research and the prevention spheres.
