This session will explore new initiatives and efforts to improve the health and wellbeing of Native Hawaiians. many of the strategies and actual projects will have direct applicability to other groups. Particular mention will be about obtaining data including census information, traditional healing practices, disease prevention health promotion efforts, health research activities in Hawai`i and the Pacific, and health education. The importance of cultural competency within this framework will also be discussed and demonstrated.
