Lisa J. Kelly, MPH, RD, International Food Information Council, 1100 Connecticut Avenue, NW Suite 430, Washington, DC 20036 and Susan Borra, RD, International Food Information Council Foundation, 1100 Connecticut Ave, NW, Suite 430, Washington, DC 20036, 202-296-6540, borra@ific.org.

The Dietary Guidelines Alliance (DGA) contracted a focus group study to explore consumer views about portion management. The results of the study will be used by the Alliance to develop a public education campaign to positively impact consumer behavior regarding portion management. Four focus groups were conducted in Chicago, IL and Baltimore, MD. Two groups were conducted with consumers who are “confident” that they follow a nutritious diet and two groups were conducted with consumers who feel “guilty” about not following a healthy diet on a regular basis. The results of the research will be presented.
