Judy Spelman, RN, Office of Senator Sheila Kuehl, California State Senate, State Capitol, Room 4032, Sacramento, CA 95814, 916-322-1680, judy.spelman@sen.ca.gov

SB921 proposes to establish a system of universal single payer health care coverage. The bill would make all California residents eliglble for specified healthcare benefits under the California Healthcare System, which would, on a single payer basis, negotiate for or set fees for health care services provided through the system and pay claims for those services. This presentation will review the history of SB921 and its current status in the legislative process.
