Institute of Medicine Reports and Beyond: The Need for Improved Environmental Risk Communication

In the mid 1990s the Institute of Medicine published reports documenting the importance of nurses and physicians being involved in addressing the health implications of environmental risks. The compelling need for health professionals to gain competencies in environmental health is described. Emphasis is on the skills and strategies for the key competency of risk communication.
