Abstract #74874

Public health and social capital: What do we make of it?

Richard J. Cohen, PhD, Philadelphia Health Management Corporation, 260 South Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19102, 215-985-2501, rjc@phmc.org

APHA affiliates as well as public health organizations at all levels have historically worked across the wide array of sectors in the assurance of the public’s health. Does the concept of social capital have implications for public health and public health agencies? Does this offer a heuristic avenue for the growth and understanding of the field? This presentation will consider the earlier presentations in this session and make some comments as to the use of the social contract concept in public health.
