The purpose of this session is to provide a broad overview of the present and likely future accomplishments of the science of genomics and to outline how these accomplishments will impact on public health practice. Specific examples of such impacts will be discussed along with their favorable and unintended outcomes.

• Understand the scope of the present and future advances in the science of genomics and their impacts on the future practice of public health.
