Using the Internet for Public Health Education
Statement of Purpose and Institute Overview:
The purpose of this institute is to welcome public health professionals to the wired and wireless world of technology, and to show how the Internet can be used as a public health education tool. With an increasing number of people using the Web for health information, this institute will enable participants to consider if and how their organization could use the Internet as a cost-effective approach to reach a wider audience with information that will improve the public's health and change their behaviors.
Learning Objectives: After attending this institute, participants will be able to: * Explain innovative uses of the Internet as an appropriate medium to reach their intended audience; * List five components of a successful health communication Web site; and * Identify three ways that they can use Web technology to further their own public health mission.
