This session provides an overview of challenges faced by public health, and the need to improve the overall public health infrastructure in several areas. Topics will include: Challenges facing Cancer registries, the need to improve the capacity to evaluate the risk of contaminatied waste water, and the need for collaborations in clean up efforts at hazardous waste sites. There will also be a discussion of the best way to improve the abilities of, and collaboration between, environmental health practitioners. | |||
Learning Objectives: At the end of this session participants will be able to: 1) Describe Challenges to the establishment of a unified environmental health workforce 2) Describe specific examples of efforts to strengthen the public health resources around issues such as Cancer registries, Waste water management and cleanup of hazardous waste sites. | |||
