Medical Care

Submit Abstract

The 2004 Annual Meeting's theme is "Public Health and the Environment" and it is scheduled to be held November 6 - 10 in Washington, DC.

Papers are welcome that address this theme, as well as a broad range of topics of interest to the Medical Care Section relating to the organization, delivery and financing of health and medical care services. When you are submitting your abstract, you will be asked to submit it to one of these topics:
  • Drug Policy and Pharmacy Services
  • Ethnic and Racial Disparities
  • Health Economics
  • Health Services Research
  • History
  • Jail and Prison Health
  • Quality Improvement
  • Rural Health
  • Social Sciences in Health
  • Student Submission
  • Urban Health
  • Veterans' Health
  • Women's Health
Please note that the Medical Care Section requests an abstract of 400 words providing somewhat more detail about your research than the usual 250-word abstract. Contrary to prior years, the Medical Care Section is no longer requiring the additional one to two page extended abstract in an effort to reduce the burden on potential presenters.

Both oral and poster sessions will be sponsored. Please indicate your preference to present your paper as an oral or poster session in the appropriate place on the electronic abstract form.

Except for student submissions, all abstracts should be submitted to one of substantive topics listed above. Student submissions should follow the instructions below.

MEDICAL CARE SECTION, STUDENT COMPETITION

As part of the call for abstracts described above, the Medical Care section is accepting abstract submissions for a student research oral session and competition. Authors of student papers that are accepted for presentation will receive recognition for their papers. One student paper will receive an award, which will be presented at the Annual Meeting.

Student submissions should also be abstracts of 400 words on a topic related to one of the substantive topics listed above. However, all student abstracts should be submitted to the "Student Submission" session, no matter which substantive topic is being addressed. Please note that in order to be eligible for the student competition, submissions MUST also include a letter from a professor that attests to the author's student status that should be sent separately directly to Dr. Bruce Davidson (address below).

Please note that the deadline for submission of all abstracts to the Medical Care Section is Thursday, February 12, 2004.
