EPIDEMIOLOGY AND THE ENVIRONMENT: RTI works to understand the importance of the environment on human health by measuring environmental contaminants, developing registries of persons exposed to environmental contaminants, and developing patented personal monitoring devices for real-time dosimetry.
PUBLIC HEALTH. RTI's areas of expertise include oral health, violence issues, tobacco use, HIV/AIDS, mental health, diabetes, maternal and child health, substance /alcohol abuse, community health, and obesity. We implement community programs to address these issues and disseminate health services through program assessment and evaluation.
PROGRAM FOR HEALTH SECURITY AND SYSTEMS RESEARCH. Our research focuses on public health preparedness in public health systems, health care systems, public health program evaluations, environmental monitoring and surveillance, criminal justice, food-borne diseases, and zoonotic diseases.
GLOBAL HEALTH. RTI has been committed to improving global health through collaboration and partnerships with individuals and organizations, government agencies, stakeholders, private foundations, and others around the world for three decades. We apply research and practical experience to strengthen health policies and design better programs, and focus on building local capacity with emphasis on community and stakeholder involvement and public-private partnerships.

RESEARCH COMPUTING. RTI applies innovative computer technology and software applications to statistics, health, and social research; experience in computer science and related disciplines; provides support for collecting, processing, managing, and analyzing data; proficient in using many programming languages, commercial and RTI-developed software tools, in-house, networked minicomputers and PCs, in addition to client-supplied and other computer facilities, to support our diverse project base.
STATISTICS RESEARCH. Our 180 statisticians are experts in biostatistics, survey statistics, and statistical analysis in areas of public health, health care, environment, energy, homeland security education, and global health. Our survey design and analysis expertise is in non-response minimization strategies, multiple frames methodologies, mixed-mode design, new data quality improvement methods, and international and culturally sensitive designs. We have knowledge in general statistical programming and study design; analysis and results interpretation; data privacy; bioinformatics; data coordinating centers; analysis, visualization, and reporting; and SAS applications. This year we are releasing the new SUDAAN 9 with nine statistical procedures and major enhancements.
SURVEY RESEARCH. RTI has more than 40 years of experience providing clients with a full range of survey data collection services including study design; instrument development and evaluation; pretest and pilot studies; tracing subjects; face-to-face field, telephone, mail, computer-assisted interviewing, web-based interviewing and data management, and mixed-mode surveys; collection of biological specimens, focus groups, records abstraction, and health registries. The wide scope of our survey research capabilities allows us to meet any data collection need, to maintain total control over the quality of our work, and to assemble efficient and effective project teams.
