Focus Groups were conducted among Junior High Latino immigrant females to explore their knowledge and attitudes about body image, obesity and eating disorders. Media influences as they relate to female body image and eating habits were also explored. Through this assessment we expect to identify the young women’s perceived risk of developing eating disorders and self image ills. The presentation will discuss the qualitative findings and identify possible interventions to address and prevent the development of any eating disorders among this group.
